Cory Cory is the alter-ego of vocalist and songwriter, Jess Braun, based in Austin, TX. After years of living and performing in NYC and CA as a singer/songwriter, and writing hundreds of songs on her guitar, in 2018 she suffered a serious injury to her wrist, leaving her unable to play guitar. After two surgeries and a depression that followed, she turned to her keyboard and electronic music as a means of artistic expression.

The music is strong and seductive - electro-pop/dark pop, with elements of soul, R&B, rock, and electronic. It's wicked, but not too wicked.

About the song “Throw” by Cory Cory:

“They say art imitates life, but sometimes art saves it. I wrote this song on my way out of a bad bout of depression. I was anxious all the time, drinking way too much, not eating. I was distant from my family. And I thought I was keeping it together! But that was only the beginning…

I started seeing a therapist, and was starting to make some progress. But then on a trip out of the country, I had a bad accident, and I shattered my wrist in nine places.

That’s when I really fell apart. I was drowning. But I kept going to therapy, even when I didn't want to. I needed healing for both my hand and my head...If I couldn't play guitar to write music anymore, at least I could write music on a keyboard. And that became its own therapy..."
